Our White Bull Trail Series Race!

November 18, 2000  •  Leave a Comment

We didn't know how much fun this race would be!

But it has been a complete blast for us, the Volunteers and of course our WHITE BULL RUNNERS.

All participants get the super cool White Bull Tech-T (thanks to Trey Barnes at Fleet Feet Encino for making that happen)

You must finish 3 of 4 races to earn the White Bull Medal PLUS have your name entered in a drawing for an iPod Mini thanks to Mark Littleton and Family (please visit this website and smile...then say THANKS when/if you meet Mark or his wife Tania.)

Age Division Winners will be for any runner that finishes ALL FOUR RACES.

Week 1:  Tapo Open Space Trail --- 3 November 2012

The weather was chilly and runners were anxious to GET MOOOOOVING (get it) on the trail  Day-Of registration had so many new runner too and thankfully we had our SQUARE to manage credit cards for anyone that needed it.

Once the sun came up it went from 40 to 60 degrees - PERFECT for running.

The Tapo Open Space Trail is what we call a lollipop.  You go out about 1.3 miles then make a 2 mile loop and head back to the START.  The slight grade up to the "T" where you hang into the loop is a bit of a challenge that turns into a speed track all the way back.

First Place Brett Goldsmith  32:29:90

Second Place Lara Ray 33:16:66

Third Place Kenneth Ringled 34:59:43

Week 2: Chumash Trail --- 17 November 212

When we left the house to set up the Start Line the weather was perfect.  It was not too chilly (about 60 degrees), no wind and a cloud covering.  That was about 6am.  We chose the race start line up the trail a bit to avoid the guy that lives on the corner who has not been friendly to us (or anyone for that matter) for over 7 years.  We're not sure WHY he's not friendly.

At about 7am the skies opened up to a downpour.  It still wasn't THAT cold (if you stayed dry under the pop up tents).

The race began at 8am and the temperature dropped another 5 degrees and the ground began to turn into a mud bowl (see photo above).  This made a few registrants think twice about how long it would take and IF they would make it to the top and back.

The Chumash trail is a single track trail - there ARE places you could slip off the side of the mountain if you were to trip or slip.

The rain got heavier and the runners stood around like wet cats waiting to go hopping from foot to foot.

Mud was sucking shoes off, sticking, slipping and basically getting on ANY surface but that was NOT going to stop these competitors.  Off they go into the rainy abyss and out of sight only to return in RECORD time soaked to the bone!

First Place Brett Goldsmith 46:30:53

Second Place Teddy Monney 46:54:30

Third Place Kenneth Ringled 47:12:34
