THE White Bull Winter Trail Series

Three years ago on a little romantic run up Hummingbird Randy and I tossed around the idea of a Trail Series here in Simi Valley.  Something that would be very fun but also tough.  We didn't know how we'd organize it, how we would promote it or who would be interested.

In September one of our campers (who happens to LOVE TO RUN) dropped a big hint:  "You guys need to create a series that keeps us moving through the holiday season but is LOCAL so we can still lead a normal life."

Talk about being in the right place hearing the right thing...at the right time.

The White Bull Trail Series was created to get people OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONE locally running our great trails.  We did not expect the best weather, but that's part of what makes it a tough challenge (and even more gratifying when you are done!!).  Since we were AGAIN rained one of our racers pointed out the obvious, "It's more like the WET BULL Winter Trail Series!"  (Thanks Peter Hubbard, you are so right).

There are still things we want to change and improve (and will) for next year.   I want to give a shout out to Melinda McCallion for having patience and taking the time to explain to me (10 times) HOW a series can work!

Next week (Saturday December 8th) is the FINAL RACE of the FOUR PART RACE SERIES.  We can't WAIT to see what unfolds.

Brett Goldsmith was hit with a horrible fever and too sick to run, so the First Place Spot just opened up.  WHO IS IT GONNA BE!?!?  If you were there you saw the rain, mud, slick conditions and EXCITEMENT!!

We've got a new "thing" we do.  Put your fingers to your head and CHARRRRRRRRRGE off into the wilderness of Simi Valley with a bunch of other wild trail running enthusiasts!

Photo coverage has been AWESOME by Tony Latzer and Tommi Diaz.  This week I asked Steve and Sue (they were at the Rocky Peak turn around checking runners in) to snap some epic pics.

Trail Running is different.  It makes you feel so FREE from the crap that can envelope you in life.   Your senses are elevated with your heart rate and it just makes you feel SO GOOD!  Well, it does for me anyway.

Try it for yourself and let me know what you think.
