Battle Of The Headbands - Sports Headband Testing ResultsBOTHB - MAIN HEADER

Perfect timing: WINDS ARE HERE, HELP!!

We gathered over 60 different types of women’s headbands and gave them the ultimate tests by real women with all sorts of head sizes, hair types and perspiration levels. The Categories headband testing

Minimum requirement of our testers: to test these babies in REAL CONDITIONS (like running races, boot camp, tennis, soccer...you get the picture).

This test ran for 12 weeks with bands being used over and over as well - washing when needed (which tests durability too).

DEMOGRAPHICS
(Noggin Size Matters)

Our testers ranged from 16 years old to 50. All were very active women. Hair types were thin, long, thick and coarse (and combinations). We also had a few that perspired a lot.  This did make a difference in the results, of course.

Here’s what I found and I think you’ll be able to use this information to either purchase for yourself or a gift for someone that needs it.

Lulu Lemon’s See Me Run

This headband won OVERALL BEST due to it’s consistent performance and high ratings in each category.

Notably the inside grip liner helped keep the band in place and as a bonus the reflective threading stood out in the wee morning and evening hours outdoors.Lulu Lemon - See Me Run HeadbandLululemon Band 6

“From teaching outdoor boot camp to my own personal high intensity workout on multiple occasions this band is very cute AND functional.  It felt comfortable and secure.  The fact that it looked cute made me feel fashionable while teaching, which I love.”

Second Place
Lulu Lemon’s Bang Buster

Staying put and definitely holding hair in place, this headband got high marks.

“Stood up in an extremely tough workout. Stayed put and the fabric kept a lot of sweat out of my eyes because I was dripping!

Third Place
Rebecca Michael's Violet Love Pegasus

Style!  This band was versatile at the gym as well as work.  It’s light but stayed put on coarse like hair.

“I wore this band all day running normal errands as a mom all over town.  Then I tried it at my outdoor boot camp where it held up great (plus I love the camo look which was fun).   It was super stylish, super comfy and really cute.”

The TOP THREE were high scoring bands across all categories but you might consider the following helpful observations.

THICK HAIR BANNER
Brenna - Battle Head Bands
glamheadbands got high scores in style with our 30+ aged testers. The sparkly bands were a favorite.  The little combs did cause trouble tangling with hair but helped hold the band in place well.

THIN FINE HAIR BANNER
Headband in ACTIONKelliR 4 Razzy Roo has a non-slip fabric that scored high. Also every tester got compliments on the styles.  They also have the option of CREATE YOUR OWN headband which I found pretty cool.

Headband in ACTIONLeah 5 Halo scored high for staying in place but got 50/50 on style.  The fabric was sort of like a wet suit and did not absorb very well.  The styles that had their special SWEAT BLOCK (patented technology) kept the sweat from dropping into the testers eyes but left a mark on their forehead.

bondiband did well in intense and high impact activities staying put and the clever “sayings” were a hit with the younger testers.

COARSE HAIR BANNER
Headband in ACTIONChelsea 6 Sweaty Bands stayed put on testers with coarse hair but on all other hair types they pressed on skulls behind the ears and did not hold hair in place well.  The styles were a big hit.  They have a lot to choose from.

Headband in ACTIONTaylorN 2 The larger and thinner bands from Violet Love fared well overall in the STYLE section (and the Violet Love Pegasus took Third Best Overall) but almost every single one slipped off while running trails or at boot camp.  BUT they did fantastic as an accessory for going out and at work!

Headband in ACTIONCherril KB 2 Halo’s “tie band” and “pullover” were unpopular for the women on comfort and style. Testers did not know exactly how to wear it (like Rambo or like Gidget?).  Once tied it moved around requiring re-adjusting which was tough while on the run.

SOME FINAL ADVICE

When purchasing ANY product be sure you check the RETURN POLICY just in case it doesn’t work for you.  Not everyone offers a no-hassle return policy.

Cleaning bands on  a regular basis is important.  You can do this by hand in the sink with warm water and a little “for babies” laundry detergent then let them hang dry.

THANK YOU to all of the awesome ladies that helped with the research on this project.

I set out to find the BEST and MOST FUNCTIONAL headbands for active women and did it!

This wouldn’t have happened without the creators of the headbands throwing their bands into the arena to give them a tough test.  For the record, the following companies did not want to participate: Adidas, BUFF, Rebok, UnderArmor and Nike.

I like that your review is by hair type! But Lululemon isn't at all a small business... Sweaty Bands are though and they work well. For a similar but cheaper product, check out Noodle Huggers on Etsy. http://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleSliceOfAwesome Having tried both; Noodle Huggers work just as well but are about 1/3 of the price. Bic Bands is another brand to consider.
